Casualties with multiple injuries are more difficult to treat because of synergistic effects of the pathophysiological disturbances on more than one organ system, the increased frequency and severity of shock. and the competing priorities for immediate care of the various injuries. Wounds involving mole than one organ are characteristically more frequently lethal.
